Within a year of being accredited as providing Best Practice Best Value by the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Birmingham technology services provider, Probrand, has chalked up a major procurement approval with an accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS). CIPS is an international organisation, based in the UK, serving the purchasing and supply profession.
Probrand also offers a public sector specific online IT procurement tool at www.theitindex.co.uk/gov which is EU Procurement Directive compliance.
Mike Mari, head of CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme, said: "Probrand delivers what CIPS calls the immovable pillars of 'good practice'. These are auditability, version control, archiving, reporting plus critical elements of the procurement workflow that include approvals, signoff, contracts and procedure, amongst others. Probrand delivers all of this through fully automated systems and has succeeded where many have failed."
Stephen Bushell, Probrand director of marketing, said: "The CIPS accreditation manifests itself in www.theitindex.co.uk, which brings together all of the elements of good practice online in one streamlined end-to-end offering. It builds in all the necessary controls that would be expected of a good practice procurement environment. This recognition is a fantastic milestone for us and has been a number of years in the making."
Chris Haynes, director EDT CIT Department for Work and Pensions, said: "Organisations that take the wastage out of a process are to be commended, especially when government is working so hard for sustainable procurement practices. It is very important that buyers are able to see what is officially recognised as good practice for more equitable procurement.
"This means solutions that save time, reduce the amount of paper used during the RFQ process, offer granular levels of product detail, including any green ratings, and ultimately enable a buyer to make a swift and informed purchase decision whilst extending the reach of their IT budget."
Peter Robbins, MD of Probrand said: "As a business we now have all the hallmarks of credibility demanded by scrutinising buyers from ISO standards to a CIPS accreditation. Our integrated management system provides for joined up and collaborative approaches to the supply chain, so buyers get to the very best priced products in the shortest possible time.
"This is our definition of good practice and great that CIPS has acknowledged it. We will continue to help buyers achieve best value amidst an IT supply chain that has been turned on its head with prices rocketing rather than declining."
